Neglect

I'm sorry, lonely and neglected blog. You wait so patiently for me to come to you when I finish with Facebook. Always hopeful. You understand that it takes more effort to write a full thought than to come up with a shorty, like "is weekending." You are painfully aware of your lack of immediate feedback and community when competing with such a vast networking site. You know that I have over 200 friends there, and here...maybe four. Yet here you sit with a sigh, hoping that I'll get bored and return to you. Such a faithful little blog you are.

I still like you.

One of the things I love most about homeschooling is being in control our family's pace and schedule. Shifting Sands

You know those movie scenes where the camera is focused on a dazed and often wide-eyed character while the world zooms past in an unrecognizable blur? Or just imagine standing on the beach in springtime while chilly waves furl and curl and drag the sand right out from under your feet. That is a completely accurate description of my life this last month. I'm almost dizzy, close to fragile, barely comprehending the blur on either side of my head, toes gripping like mad to maintain balance. Sing with me, "On Christ the solid rock I stand; all other ground is sinking sand; all other ground is sinking sand." Yes. Second week of March : the kids and I travel to Indiana to be with my mom as she goes through surgery for cancer. Christmas Newsletter Gone Digital

I think this year ge ts the award for “Fastest Flier.” Can you believe that it's alr eady Chris tmas? I feel like it was just last month that I was churning out our 2009 Chri stmas newsletter, and here I am, at eleven o'clock in the pm, reflecting over the past year and praying over what to share with you for 2010. We anticipate this being our last Christmas in C orpus Christi, as we expect to be moving to a new duty station next summer. We have been told that we will be moving to Jacksonville, North Carolina some time late next summer or early autumn, but as anyone in the military will tell you, until Rob's orders are in hand , there's just no guarantee when or even where we will rotate. So we do what we have lear ned to do: enjoy where we're at while we're here. Bloom where we've been planted. We have loved our two years in Corpus Christi, TX, and although we look forward to the new adventures that await us, we will all be a little sad to leave our h
